WOMEN EMANCIPATION THROUGH CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY (A CASE STUDY OF NWANNE – DI-NA-MBA COOPERATIVE SOCIETY ASATA ENUGU, ENUGU STATE)
ABSTRACT
This study is aimed at defining out the possible role of cooperative society I the emancipation of women or their liberation in Asata. A case study of Nwanne di na mba Women Cooperatives. This is in view of the fact that women in this part of the country are only seen to have their portion in the kitchen and housewives. Thus standing to support the saying “women education ends in the kitchen”. This station persisted up till about 1929 when we had Aba women riot, which made women realize that they could participate in other social, economical, and political activities. Women emancipation could be said to be the act of giving the women equal right with the men counter poart either politically. Legally, socially and economically. This could lead to a better living standard for all since their economic emancipation could mean more hands going into production and subsequently more food production.
This research work was carried out in Asata through the study of registered women cooperative societies randomly chosen to cover the whole section and fribe.
