THE IMPACT OF COMPUTERIZED ACCOUNTING SYSTEM ON BANKING SERVICE IN UYO METROPOLIS
The study tried to investigate the impact of computerized accounting system on banking service in Uyo metropolis with a particular reference to First Bank of Nigeria PLC Uyo Branch as a case study. Since the computer has come in more advancement in technology many organization have computerized system of accounting in order to assist management in decision making. Accounting is said to be the language of business, it is used in business world described the transaction recorded in all kinds of organizations. To achieve this aims, the objectives of the study was stated which is to find out the impact of computerized accounting system on banking services; to identify the problems associated with the establishment of accounting system on banking services etc. this work examined the impact of accounting system in banking industries using First Bank of Nigeria as a case study to achieve this purpose, five research questions and three research hypothesis were formulated to guide this study. Also a structure questionnaire was used as the main instrument for collection of data from 60 personnel of First Bank of Nigeria Plc, Uyo Branch. The data collected from respondents were analyzed using simple percentage and correlational analysis statistical tool. All tests were carried out at 0.05 level of significance. The result revealed that there is a significant relationship between the impact of computerized accounting system and First Bank of Nigeria Plc, Uyo banking Service. The further revealed that out of 40 employees in First Bank of Nigeria Plc, 30 were completed and return to the researcher representing (75%) and 10 copies of questionnaire were not returned (25%) for analysis of data. They study concluded with some recommendations that non computerized establishment should be educated to appreciate the role of computers in the bank. They should also train other worker apart from the computer personnel. To ensure that the security should not be reflected to avoid authorized access to data in order to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of data to every customers.
