PROJECT REPORT ON DETAIL SURVEY OF PART OF STATE SECONDARY COMMERCIAL SCHOOL, OKOP ETO, IKOT EKPENE LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, AKWA IBOM STATE

CHAPTER ONE

1.0    INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The word “features” here refers to both natural and artificial structures on a piece of land such as vegetation, building, land utilities, fence and boundaries road, and land mark.

All details survey are based on a frame work of control station which must be establish on the ground before detail can be located, these station are fixed by traversing, trilateration and triangulation or occasionally by intersection or resection method of survey.

That is to say detail survey are carried out within area covered by control surveying being lied into the station establish. Detail survey is used for the location and determination of features and improvement on a parcel of land.

Detail survey is usually confined to the boundaries of the parcel of land. The survey will often include data such as the elevation of the land that is how high the land is above an arbitrary datum (level) which is taken as zero meters high.

In complicated terrain this operation can be slow and inaccurate, as can be seen by comparing Map’s made on the ground with those made subsequently from aerial photography’s.

This type of survey is regularly used when designing roads, buildings, extensions and other new infrastructure.

Detail survey purpose is to show the position of improvements in relation to other site features, neighboring features, site boundaries, easements and the like.

1.1    STATEMENT OF PROBLEM

From the investigation we made, we discovered that state secondary commercial school Okop Eto does not have a digital plan, so we decided to chose there as our study area. We help the school to have the whole details of the features both natural and artificial. Thus we decided to use the school as our project site so that in the end, we produce a digital plan.

1.2    AIM AND OBJECTIVE

The aim of this is to produce a digital detail plan of state secondary commercial school Okop Eto in Ikot Ekpene local government area using Total Station.

The aim stated above will achieve through the following objectives

  1. Obtaining information about feature using coordinate made of total station.
  2. Defining the boundary of work area
  3. To produce up-to-date engineering plans of the areas in which the work will be carried out.
  4. To provide the spatial location of the earth feature and other environmental information necessary for engineering work, planning location and exploitation of natural resources as well as land administration.
  5. To record the final position of the detail, including any design changes.
