PHYTOCHEMICAL ANALYSIS AND THE ANTI-INFLAMMATORY ACTIVITIES OF METHANOL EXTRACT OF CRATEVA ADANSONII
ABSTRACT
Inflammation is a complex biological response of vascular tissues to harmful stimuli, such as pathogens, cells damage or irritants. The urgency generated by an increase in the frequency of stroke, atherosclerosis assigned to prolong the use of cyclooxygenase-1 and 2 inhibitors have anti-inflammatory accelerated research during the last decade, while agents synthetic pharmaceuticals continued to dominate research, attention increasingly has been directed to natural products. They are often more affordable and accessible, and sometimes are seen as more effective than conventional anti-inflammatory drugs. Anti-inflammatory activity was performed using 11 rats. This was divided into three groups of four rats each. Group 1 and 2 were used as positive and negative control, respectively. Groups 3 and 4 received 200 mg / kg and 600 mg b.w / kg body weight of the extracts respectively. However, it was discovered that the Crateva stem bark adansonii showed a greater anti-inflammatory activity significance compared with the standard.
