EMPLOYEE PARTICIPATION IN DECISION MAKING AND ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT

 

ABSTRACT

This study was intended to examine the effect of employee participation in decision making on organizational commitment. This study was guided by the following objectives; to examine the effect of employee participation on organizational commitment; to find out ways/methods of introducing effective employee participation programme in an organization and to determine the challenges that are associated with employee participation. The study employed the descriptive and explanatory design; questionnaires in addition to library research were applied in order to collect data. Primary and secondary data sources were used and data was analyzed using the chi square statistical tool at 5% level of significance which was presented in frequency tables and percentage. The respondents under the study were 25 staff of Nigerian Breweries, Onitsha. The study findings revealed that there is a relationship between employee participation and organizational commitment; based on the findings from the study, employers should engage in constant constructive communication with its employees.
