INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of The Study

Computer base test is referred to as a method of administering test in which the response are electronically recorded, assessed or both. It is also called computer base assessment, computerized testing or computer administered test.computer based assessment involves the use Of a computer or an equivalent electronic device. Computer base system facilitate trainers and educators author, schedule, deliver and report, examinations ,surveys, quizzes, test.computer based assessment could be a stand alone system or considered as part of a virtual learning environment located through the via the world wide web. virtual learning environment can be accessed and provides a collection of tools such as multiple choice test. The dierent types of computer based assessment in use today in our higher institution include formative selest, summative final examination. CBA is applied in various ways as an integral part of many currently used computer aided learning. The benefit of using computer base assessment include reduce marking load for sta and a closer match between assessment and learning environment; and rapid formative feedback to the students , (Brown,Rall, and Bull 1999). CBA also improve the performance of students in summative assessment .This is also supported by Ricketts and wilks (2002) who maintained that the introduction of online assessment was to improve students performance through more frequent assessment using on line testing feedback. Presently in Nigeria CBA is used in higher institutions for post university, polytechnic and college of education matriculation and semester examination. The research intends to investigate Eect of computer base test and geography education.

1.2 Statement of the Problem

The use of CBA is confronted by several challenges including cost of infrastructure installation and maintenance. Low level of computer appreciation among many intended users; poor level of power supply, privacy and security issues etc. The use of computer base assessment constitutes a development in education to enhance improvement in methodology of delivery and implementation. However the extent of its application and implementation is yet to be fully explored. The research intends to proffer an assessment of the Effect of computer base test and geography education.

1.3 Objectives of the Study
