ABSTRACT

Recruitment is to enroll somebody as a worker or member, or to take on people as workers or members. With the advance in technology more in particular in the field of computer related organization, a lot of things are now automated. As a matter of fact, Information technology has a vital role in the design and implementation of an online recruitment system.

Almost all our Higher Institution has gone into online recruitment system because of the extraordinary benefit resulting from information technology. Information technology has enabled an online recruitment system to work successfully.

With this online recruitment system, applicants’ data/information are well collected, processed and stored for the management purpose.

ORGANIZATION OF WORK

This project work is primarily designed to give an insight to online recruitment system.

Chapter one talks about introduction to online recruitment system, study of problem and objectives as well as definition of the scope.

Chapter two comprises the literature review. Chapter three gives the detailed information about the existing (old) system, while chapter four and five deals with the design and implantation of new system.

Chapter six document the project work, while chapter seven summaries,  conclusion and suggestions were made.

INTRODUCTION

As most nations of the world are becoming information technology inclined, Nigeria is not left behind. Even as most organizations and companies in the foreign countries have implemented information technology in their films, likewise most of Nigeria’s organizations and companies have also enjoyed the benefits of information technology.

Recruitment refers to the process of screening, and selecting qualified people for a job at an organization or firm, or for a vacancy in a volunteer-based some components of the recruitment process, mid- and large-size organizations and companies often retain professional recruiters or outsource some of the process to recruitment agencies. External recruitment is the process of attracting and selecting employees from outside the organization.

The recruitment industry has four main types of agencies: employment agencies, recruitment websites and job search engines, “headhunters” for executive and professional recruitment, and in-house recruitment. The stages in recruitment include sourcing candidates by advertising or other methods, and screening and selecting potential candidates using tests or recruitments

The proper start to a recruitment effort is to perform a job analysis, to document the actual or intended requirement of the job to be performed. This information is captured in a job description and provides the recruitment effort with the boundaries and objectives of the search. [2] Oftentimes a company will have job descriptions that represent a historical collection of tasks performed in the past. These job descriptions need to be reviewed or updated prior to a recruitment effort to reflect present day requirements. Starting a recruitment with an accurate job analysis and job description insures the recruitment effort starts off on a proper track for success

As I consider the design and implementation of online recruitment system, it is necessary to mention here that information technology have a lot to play in achieving this. Implementing online recruitment system entails having access to internet, having a website and the place of strong and reliable database can not be over emphasized.

All these must be put into consideration and they are well treated in the subsequent section of this project work.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Owing to (i) the difficulties applicant encounter in manual filling and submission of RECRUITMENT forms (ii) time wasted in getting information from RECRUITMENT officers on how to fill the form. (iii) Loss of some submitted forms due to mismanagement of RECRUITMENT officers and (iv) Long queue the applicants face in collecting their RECRUITMENT feed back, the need arises for the development of online recruitment system to alleviate these problems.
