ABSTRACT
The construction of soap cutting table, mould and cutters became inevitable as it’s importance in our industries and society could not be over emphasized.
When one considers the money at hand, he decides whether to start from the primary production level or secondary production level.
Every establishment starts from the small scale production level. Referring to this project the main aim is for the establishment of small scale soap production machinery and avoid some problems that might arise during the cutting and production level.
Since it is difficult for a poor man to adopt the mechanized method of soap production, the simple soap production machinery was constructed to enable him achieve his aim. In the construction of these project one soap cutting table were made, four moulds of the same dimensions and two pairs of three kinds of cutters.
In the construction work, hard wood were wt and assembled according to the given dimensions for the construction of the soap cutting table and moulds, frames were constructed according to the given dimensions for the cutter’s and wire guaza were would ramd them according toe h given space for three types of cutter’s.
The hard texture of the wood caused the bending of tools and materials used in the construction process so great skill were applied to minimize damage and great attention were given to the construction procedures.
Finally, after the construction process the soap cutting table was produced to have balance in the four legs, the mould was produced to have handles for easil handling and the three types of cutter has the capacity of cutting cast soap into different size:
i. Bar: 390mm x 45mm x 32mm
ii. Tablet: 90mm x 50mm x 26mm
The sizes also allows firm grip.
CHAPTER ONE
1.0 INTRODUCTION
The project under analysis and constructional study is the “construction of wooden mould with table and cutters”. In the construction of this soap machine (a wooden contraption), engineering materials like wood, metals or plastics could be used. Though this materials are now grouped into metals and non metals, all based on their physical and chemical characteristics.
In this case of constructing a wooden mould, table and cutters, wood is chosen and is the major engineering material needed. Even though metal has some unique properties over wood and plastic, yet it is desirable in most cases to use some qualitative wood in engineering fabrications and constructions bearing in mind the economy of construction and the life span of the machine.
A well-dried and seasoned hardwood like Mahogany, Froko, Obche etc, can be sued for the construction. This is possible due largely to the fact that wood can resist moisture absorption and weakness unlike metal; it does not corrode and it’s also a battery shock absorber when compared with metals.
The increase in demand of soap in our homes, industries and various establishments calls for an efficient, durable, reliable and above all cost – effective means of producing soap. These set of wooden devices the mould, the table and cutters produces a better appeal to the consumers, and also produces tablet and bar soaps that are of quality sizes and also soaps that allows firm grip while use.
This wooden contraption is detachable. The cutters having ranges in their string intervals are occasionally filled in and removed from the cutting table.
This is to allow the proper size reduction of the big and bulky soap to defined bars and tablets of proper sizes.
The devices (the wooden mould, the able and the cutters), are all manually manned. They, being the three composites of a small scale soap cutting machine are interchangeably operated, especially the cutters.
In most industries, especially the small scale industries, cost of producing a given commodity is always a vital factor to be considered. This leads to the invention of a cost effective means and also a cheaper improvisational method of soap production. This idea gave birth to the wooden mould, table and cutters as cost effective machines found in small scale soap industry as compared to the sophisticated steel corrugated tanks, automated cutters and platforms found in large scale soap industries.
