AVAILING CLIMATE CHANGE JUSTICE USING HUMAN RIGHTS REGIMES AT NATIONAL LEVEL
Abstract
Climate Change is a common concern of humankind. In the same viewpoint, there is relatively fairly scientific certainty and consensus that anthropogenic activities dictated by the pursuit of development have led to the present looming crisis of climate change ranging from sea level rise, coastal erosion, decrease in agricultural production, accessibility to clean water and impact on health. Similarly, thIS realization is gaining ground that climate change has a social, economic and differential impact which in no doubt influences human rights a great deal. The focus of this essay will be to highlight how climate change is affecting a set of internationally recognized human rights and how human right regime can be used to avail or enthrone climate justice and fairness. Certain examples will be shown on how workable it is at national level. Thus, the essay suggests a human rights approach to climate change impacts affecting protected human rights.
