ABSTRACT
This research work was aimed at analyzing teachers’ attitude towards the use of ICT in the teaching of geography in schools in Akure. 100 geography teachers were chosen from the sampled 50 schools in Akure Metropolis (South, West, East) respectively. The data collection tools were the questionnaires and data analysis was mainly descriptive, the statistical techniques applied in the data analysis were simple summation and percentages.
The result of the study showed that ICT is having effect in the teaching of geography and that the nonavailability of ICT laboratory for geography teachers’ in secondary schools is a great hindrance to the development of computer skill by the geography teachers’. It is also shown that slightly above average of the geography teachers’ are competent in the use of ICT and those with ICT resources make use of it. As a result of the study, one of the recommendations given is that geography teachers should be provided with adequate ICT resources to improve their attitude towards the use of ICT in teaching.
