Activities and Readings in the Geo graphy of the United States (ARGUS) is a curriculum project sponsored by the Association of American Geographers un der a grant from the National Science Foundation. Although the specific audi ence for these materials is the high school geography course, the historical thrust of many of the activities makes them valuable resources for teachers of American history. The activity on European colonies is provided on pages 37-41 of this issue and subse quent topics include “Westward Mi gration” featuring the public land survey, the “Civil War and Section alism” focusing on the physical land scape of the southern states, and “Old Industry” discussing where fac tories were located.
